RICHMOND, Ky. – Corey Henson, a 2017 Powell County High School graduate, has received a $1,500 scholarship presented by Peoples Bank of Madison and Rockcastle Counties to a high school student enrolled in the Eastern Kentucky University Upward Bound program, which serves first-generation college students. Henson, who successfully completed two years of Upward Bound, will attend Berea College this fall.

“We’re very impressed with the leadership Corey showed during his time with Upward Bound. He has had a very busy high school career, and his hard work paid off,” said Melinda Carter, Peoples Bank of Madison County, who co-presented the scholarship with Nicki Marshall of Peoples Bank of Madison and Rockcastle Counties.
